Say someone invented something way back when, how do they know the year it was invented if the inventor or no one else wrote it down? I mean, someone could have invented toilet paper before the guy who we know who invented and no one knows that it was invented already because no one wrote down the date. You can't find traces of TP because it decompeses. So how do they do that?
