COUGH COUGH!!! i know im not supposed to bring up old subjects again but i can help it.....this is about the Moiraine situation.....lets think about Min, am i the only one who remembers this, that in WH Min is pondering about how she said Alivia would "help" Rand die, then she told Rand that Alivia was going to kill Rand and Rand said said "but you siad she was going to help me die, there is a difference" then she is thinking about how she has never been wrong about a viewing except with Moiraine. now if she had been wrong about Moiraines viewing, then maybe Moiraine is alive!!thats what i have, a hint the Moiraine's work in this age is not done!!!!!!! now there is a chance that this is not in WH but i dont have the best memory and i got this off my head so dont take me word for word here. oh and a kinda stupid question but if some one was hit with a small amount of balefire, and by small i mean reaaaaaaaallllllllly small amount, is it possible that their thread in the pattern isnt all the way burnt out? couldnt they just be stuck as a child or something? ok

Coh and a kinda stupid question but if some one was hit with a small amount of balefire, and by small i mean reaaaaaaaallllllllly small amount, is it possible that their thread in the pattern isnt all the way burnt out? couldnt they just be stuck as a child or something? ok No. This is my take on balefire, the Pattern, and everything. The Pattern is naturally made up of millions of threads, each for a different life. The threads are sort of enlongating, growing longer, as the pattern gets farther. The moment the people are experiencing in the WoT is the current place the Wheel has woven to. A person dies when his or her thread stops. Now, what balefire does to the pattern is sort of like holding a match to a string. It burns. The more balefire, the farther it burns backwards. But what this is doing is not making the person younger until they do not exist, but actually removing the fact of their existance at that moment. They existed before, all the way up to the point where they were balefired, but past that, they are gone. Kaputt. What you are suggesting is actually displacing a thread, making it so that a part of the thread that came before the balefire is now located at the Moment. This simply does not work, because that thread is already back, far back in the pattern, and you cannot move it without destroying the Pattern. There, enough philosiphy for tonight. Time to RP : )

She is coming back. She has to marry Thom! Seriously though, Moiraine was never balefired. All she did was knock Lanfear into the doorway and then the wagons caught afire and the rest is history.

Bob, you have posted the most godly explanation of balefire I have ever seen.
