An anonymous note? One that is typed so she does not know who wrote it.

The idea of a law that just requires her to prove herself (which I know she couldn't) seems much better to me. That way she can be peeved at those people at the DMV and not some anonymous family member, she'd end up blaming my mum. But it's alright for her to be mad at the DMV. Everyone should be mad at the DMV.

You know, I'm seriously thinking of sending a letter to whoever is in charge of the DMV and suggesting this law.

Because, quite frankly, quite a lot of eldery folks cannot drive safely according to the law. My great grandma fell asleep at the wheel all the time and side-swiped a car or two by the time we got her license revoked. She was 90.

Wow. That's bad.
I know older people need to get around, too. Either family should take them where they need to be or they should take a taxi or a bus.

The ironic thing is, the old dear lives two blocks from the bus station.

Why doesn't she take the bus? Is it because she wants to be independant and not rely on other people? I suppose if I were that age I'd act the same way.

Things we've determined in this thread: Europe pwns America's drivers. Old people should not be given car keys. Ever.

It has finally happened. We got in an accident. Luckily we only rear-ended someone at 25 mph. And somehow it was my fault. Bloody passengers, not paying attention to make sure the driver is driving correctly. That's what she said, after we drove away, "You should've told me to stop 3 seconds sooner you know, why weren't you paying attention..?" I was furious, being as she was staring out the driver's side window and whining about traffic.

Your grandmother got in an accident? Is her driver's license taken away?

Yep. Tuesday evening we got into an accident. Unfortunately it was minor and there was little damage, so her license isn't being revoked. Her insurance will just go up probably.
