If they follow up on this, it might just be what we've all been hoping/praying for.
The Wheel of Time Mod is a total conversion of the game Morrowind/Oblivion into a game that takes place in the world of the Wheel Of Time, a world created by Robert Jordan.
We originally were going to make this mod using the Morrowind engine but with the announcement of the next game in the Elder Scrolls series, Oblivion, we have decided to wait and mod the game with the Oblivion engine. There are many reasons we have decided to switch gears. Oblivion will be out in a year. We could have never completed this mod by that time and would then have released a game with what most people would think was an obsolete engine.
We have a lot of design to complete before we can start modding the world into something that is faithful to the WOT. The farther we got into this project, the more things we saw needed to be designed. Modding now would create a game that is inconsistent in look with uneven transition from region to region, incompatible with the books in many areas, and basically less than what we desire. An extra year or so of design will allow us to concentrate on creating that game according to well thought out specifications. Many of the gameplay and story elements will be worked out by the time we start. The setting will be designed to guarantee that every plant, person, interior set, exterior set, spell, animal, clothing, and faction is Wheel of Time faithful.
