While talking with a WoT fan over KoL chat system I discovered a source of ambition and determination. This time I will make a new theme. It will not be Stormbringer or any other stupid thing. It will be what it is now. The Black Tower. Only updated with better images and colors. What I have in mind is a darker backround. I'm torn between having silver borders and font or bringing Taim's coat into it with the gold and blue Dragons going up his arms. That's why I'm posting this. I want to know if you want black ans silver or black, gold, silver, and blue. Now, no matter what we choose I've written down some ideas for icons and whatnot. I want to know what you think and what could be better. I think I may have found a forum that could make us images. It may take awhile, but it'll get done (hopefully). So here is the list and tell me what you think. (I don't have a banner idea down because that is the most difficult of all. I want more input on this.) Go for it.
Personally, I'd prever the black, gold, silver, and blue over just black and silver -- it would offer variety to the color scheme, and the current look doesn't offer that.
And you seem pretty intent on getting custom images. Good luck with that.
Thread icons: Aes Sedais symbols with the appropriate sign, lock/sticky/lock-sticky. Also, somehow distinguish between small threads, medium threads, and big threads.
I'd recommend either varying the size of the symbol or varying the color. I don't know how to do that exactly, so I'll leave it in your hands.
Other than that, I have no comment. If I have any ideas, particularly for the banner, I'll tell you.

You could tell me one thing, though. Where would you put each color? Just say, "black" or "gold" instead of a hexcode.

The Window Background is where the board titles and discriptions are. I'd have to see which one 1 is and which one 2 is. Since I don't have much time in the morning, I'll wait on what I'm going to do. I'll do it after school instead. I'll take your suggestions and just use basic colors and create a skin in the test board that matches what you just told me so you can see what it would look like.
That goes for everyone else. If you have a suggestion, please tell me. I'll create the skin and show you what it would look like and do any changes that you wish to be changed. This forum is for the people and what they want, not for what I want. I'm ust the guy in the charge that (tries) makes things happen. So don't be afraid to comment. I won't bite and I want be nasty.

I just thought of something. Instead of having little symbols for the options like 'reply' and whatnot, maybe we should just have text. Having the little images would become a pain in the ass for anyone who is going to make images.

I've used that style (image - text) in the past, looks nice as long as the forum can balance it out, a equal amount of images for the text icons. I like your ideas for icons, the gradients would be a pain for anyone but a high-end graphics designer like Oliver, UC, FT, Ryu Hubbusa, etc.

Just a quite question, are you replacing the current skin with the new one?
With the proboards upgrade, you can keep the current one as well.

I'd either replace it or make it so you could use whatever one you wanted (if you can do that). You can, each user can change which skin they want in their profile. You can also set one as the default for everyone (as this one currently is, even though there isn't anything else to choose from). |

I'd have it darker, but Victor complained that he couldn't see anything. Can everyone see it? Is it too dark? Now if this is what we want, then I will start working on the graphics. I'll save the banner for last. We'll start with the buttons. Buttons: do you want symbols or not? Banner: Ideas for what it should look like?

Looks mostly alright to me now. I still think it could be a bit brighter, but at least I can read it now.
As to the buttons, symbols would be good as long as they're easily understandable. The banner...? Maybe "the farm house" silhouetted in the background with the words Black Tower to the side?
