This is just a random story I began writing the other day. This is the roughest of rough drafts that I will make not really caring for fine detail but just getting the main plot of the first chapter please comments for I would like as much help as possible.
Chapter One:
Eyes Unseen
In the thirteenth year of the Age of Guintin a young man sat at the front of a bar his black hair obscured by the hood of the black cloak wrapped around him. He looked around at the patrons with a menacing stare that would bore a hole in iron and with a disgruntled grunt he laid a small silver sein on the counter as the bartender gave him a cold stare as he laid the wine on the counter. Taking the bottle he stood up and walked over to a nearby table where sat a tall man whose eyes showed nothing but an icy stare that sent shivers down his spine. He sat down in front of him and looked to make no one was close enough to hear the two people but as he saw most people looked as though they wished they could be farther.
“The bartender doesn’t know half of what he should and the half that he told me might as well have come out of a horses mouth.” Volcon whispered to the man before him commonly know as Jarad.
Jarad looked at him in the icy stare he had come to know all too well and looked at nothing for a moment. He then responded quietly “We must leave before he learns how to speak of what he knows.” He looked around and he sighed as he whispered “But it looks as though he might be quite good at this.
Looking sideways at what the man was looking at he saw what he was talking about and let out an impatient grunt as three men came walking over to their table with an uncertain glance. He stood up gesturing for the man with him to do the same and headed for the door and as he did he saw the men stop evidently satisfied with the fact that they were leaving. He pushed open the door and headed into the dank, manure smelling stable and looked at the boy who had come running up to him with his horse as though he had been waiting for him. Taking the lead he swung up into the saddle with one swift motion and as it did his hood came off exposing eyes that were brown around the edges and blue in the towards the middle then turning black at the point where it met his pupil.
“Here, boy you didn’t see anything.” He tossed him a large gold Tinvr and galloped forward through the doors and into the nights.
The moon hung heavy in the sky and the humid air made the night even hotter than it truly was. He slowed his mount to a trot as he passed the first turn in the ever curving road. Passing through the many roads of the city he looked around him still in wonder of places such as these of course his face showed nothing of this but in his mind he was in awe. As the two went on further into the night they only saw two other people but Volcon could never exactly get past the feeling that he was being watched as his mount crept slowly through the empty streets. He absent mindedly fingered his sword and even drew the knives he kept on him playing with them as they galloped through the night.
The moon was bright in the sky and as he looked up something crossed making a large shadow across the little light there was. Speeding Luon his horse to a slow gallop he gestured for Jarad to do the same thing as the shadow came back over the globe in the sky. His heart racing he took a deep breath as is once again made a shadow but it had a companion with it this time and now the two where galloping through the night as fast as their mounts could take them. He now knew that all their meddling in the kings business had been found out and someone wasn’t happy about it.
“Harpies” He heard the man behind him say in an annoyed tone. He was right but Volcon almost wished he wasn’t.
“Yes, my friend and I doubt that they want to grant us any wishes.” He responded. It was well known that stray harpies would grant you a wish but it was always with a catch but it was also well know that most harpies worked for the king as mercenaries.
He held on as they turned left on the curving street, leaning slightly forward as they went under a low arch that seemed to be made of marble. The harpies where getting lower as they went on and the shadows continued to grow as they got nearer. The numbers now started to gain as they swooped down on their prey that was almost within their reach. Using his feet to stay on and steer he drew one of the knives in his sleeve and hurled it at one of the harpies and it flew true hitting it in the heart. Looking back he saw it dive to the ground hitting leaving nothing but a pile of shadowed remains.
Breathing a little heavily he took the reins back and motioned for his companion to follow him carefully. Taking an unexpected left he navigated his way through the labyrinth that was the city of Kenish not following the main road at all as he sped through the alleys and crevices. He worked his way out of the inner-city making his way through the slums of this place. The way was littered with stones and small walls but he never stopped to turn or even look behind him for that matter.
He could now see the gates of this Jorhorr of a city and kicking his horse for him to go faster he realized that the gates were closed and he didn’t think that it was on accident. Changing he route he went a road down and turning left he saw what he was heading for. In front of him was the door that the guards used to check people for smugglers. Going as fast as his horse could go he headed for the door and getting ready for the impact he was surprised when the horse stopped and when he saw what it was he was stopping for.
Before him was a Lu’crok his one piercing eye was staring at him his four arms each had a chain whip and the scaly wings seemed to fit right in with it all. Being very tall and not that bulky but still strong the Lu’crok was one of the most deadly creatures in the world. Knowing without a doubt that he wouldn’t survive this he made a left and decided to try and escape another way.
Heading through the empty market he looked up to see that it would soon be morning for the sixth moon was rising and the fourth was falling. He made another left sending him towards the gate the Lu’crok had now taken to flight and was following him a great advantage. Taking a right now he found himself next to another door this one was for guards who must circle the gates. Turning hard right into the door his horse plummeted through it leaving broken shards of what it once was.
Looking behind him he saw that Jarad wasn’t behind him but he kept going forward he knew that the man would not be gone for long. Heading into the deep forest that encircled the city he new that he would soon be hidden and he would head to the small cave they used as a meeting point when in this region.

Jarad followed Volcon trying to make the intricate turns that he was making and he could almost hear the wings of the harpies behind him. He felt the knife as it sped past his face hitting a harpy in the heart killing it instantly. He silently cursed as Volcon made a turn he didn’t see because of the distraction of the knife. He took a left and saw as the end of a horse turning going right again. He was moving fast now and he tried to get his mount to go faster as he sped toward his target. He showed no emotion but inside he was cursing his soul away.
He made the right and realized that they were heading out of the inner city towards the south gate. He silently thought that he would be happy to get out of here alive and in one piece. He made another turn following the rider in front of him but gasp as he saw a Lu’crok flying around and land somewhere to the south. That wasn’t his problem for right now he wasn’t going to come in contact with him at all. The rider then stopped and he saw that it wasn’t Volcon but someone else and evidently whoever it was saw him too for he was now peering behind him. He followed him as he kicked his horses flanks and followed even though it wasn’t Volcon.
The rider got faster and faster and he now knew why, behind them were at least five or six harpies and perhaps even a Lu’crok. The horse got faster every step he took most likely sensing the creatures behind him. He wished he had the many knives hidden among him like Volcon but he was more of an archer than a sword thrower but he wasn’t about to lose time by trying to ride and shoot his bow at the same time. They were soon next to the wall of the city and traveling faster than most people could handle and gaining. They soon came upon the gate the guards used to check for smugglers but they were now face to face with a Lu’crok and the one that had been following them didn’t stop but kept going ‘Volcon’ he thought for that was the only logical explanation.
Stopping Glimac his horse he dismounted facing the Lu’crok with a gleam in his eyes as he drew the sword that had the words written on it in runes ‘A light of Darkness’. He looked at the rider to see it holding a odd looking sword and looking into the hood of its cloak he saw that it was a woman elf. He didn’t have time to think as the Lu’crok rushed forward his whips flying and he attacked with a vengeance like none he had ever seen. The elf matched him in a much more graceful way but still with every bit of strength he had and as Jarad joined the fight he knew that he would too be evenly matched.
The Lu’crok would have smashed either of them easily if there had not been two of them and perhaps would still. He quickly blocked him and changed his defense into an offense and he parried and attacked again but this time he got a good swing in and his top left arm fell off and squirmed on the ground. The creature never faltered and Jarad now had an advantage if only a small one but he blinked as the creature full backwards. He had a blade sticking from his head and the elf was retrieving it as though she was getting a block of cheese from the market.
He bowed to her in an elegant manner stating “I believe that you just saved my life.” He looked at he and she looked back at him as though looking at a creature she had never seen before.
“And this surprises you stranger?” she more stated that asked then said “If your going to follow me I want to know your name, and possibly why.”
“Well, I thought you were my friend till we fought him. I really must be going or he will begin to worry.”
He bowed to the elf and swung into the saddle of his horse in one swift motion. As he was beginning to start for the door he was surprised to hear the elf say “Wait, I wish to travel with you I can see a light in you future and it shines brighter than anyone I have ever encountered.” She then swung into her saddle and added “Are you of royal blood?”
Surprised at what she said he looked at her and responded “You may travel with me, but I am of no royal blood.”
She looked at him in that same way and replied “Maybe not but we should leave more will come.”
Galloping forward the busted through the door and into the forest that loomed before them the sun was almost up and they needed to be far before anyone came to see what had happened. The dirt flying from the hooves of their horses they galloped through the crisp night air and is suddenly hit him that he didn’t know her name. It didn’t matter but it was still rude to be traveling with someone without know their name. He kept going forward anyway right now wasn’t a time for manners but for speed.
Keeping low they raced through the trees and the ground beneath them suddenly became black with shadows and the land around them began to stir in an uncomfortable manner. Creatures began pouring from the trees Gilvics with their long tusks and three blood red eyes, Liviks with their many feet and rock hard scales that made an armor on their body and their long necks with flames coming from their nostrils. Lastly and most feared was the Grantor or a giant snake like creature with a gaze that if looked strait at would destroy you from your insides with no mercy for anyone.
Taking a deep breath he looked at the elf and she gasped “What did you do? This must be more spawns of the king than I’ve ever seen.”
He laughed an empty laugh and replied “Let’s just say that I rattled the kings cage a bit.”
His attention was diverted as he saw another figure racing through the trees and he knew who it was as he shouted “Volcon we might need some help.”
“Ah, there you are and you have a friend.” Volcon said his horse galloping he then added “An I doubt there is any reason to keep running.” He leaped backwards of the horse doing a black flip and landed on his feet facing the opposite way the horse was running.
“Right you are stranger.” The elf simply started getting off and the horse stopped in mid-gallop to let her off.
Jarad jumped off his, landing on his feet one hand on the ground to balance him. He then simply stated “It may kill us but at least we will die with honor.” He then drew his sword and faced it towards the mass of creatures coming toward him.
After he thought about it Jarad sheathed his sword and got into his stance taking a deep breath clearing his mind and becoming completely in control of his mind. Where he had grown up at every child was taught to control their mind for if they did they unlocked the secrets that their mind held. He himself could control fire a thing called Pyrokenisis. Drawing back his hand he made a fist and swung it through the air it caught on fire and the fire traveled to the trees catching them aflame.
The first few creatures broke through and he attacked and he was surprised to see the ground burst forward but he looked over to see the elf in the same concentration he was in. He held up his hand and a flame appeared concentrating on it, it began to spin and he threw it and it grew. It was a tornado of fire that consumed all that it passed of course it would only hold the beast back for a little while but it was better than nothing.
Looking back at Volcon and he saw the little man not in the concentration but instead with his sword out and
