Anyone else think the fader is boring?

I'm talking about the big one on top of the home page. The "ages fade to memories, then legend, then myth," and so on. Anyone else think the joke might be funny the first few times, but isn't quite what we should have for our site headline?

Although I, in my infinite funniness, was the one who found the quote... yeah. We could use a new header.

[Robert]

How about, well, just the regular quote. It would make our site seem more serious, and WoT ish. And it won't wear thin, for it has an epic quality.

[Victor]

How about something else relating to the Wheel of Time? I'm sure there are tons of sites out there with the original quote as their motto or something to that effect. Wouldn't it be better to be original instead of copying them?

Yeah, it would be a little clicheish. How about a Dragon prophecy?

[Victor]

Almost as cliche.

Make one up, then... Er, maybe not. What's not cliche and yet WoT ish?

How about not and say we did?

Because, Tony, it turns people off. If I know anything about how people check out websites, they'll hear about it, visit it once, laugh. Visit again, chuckle. Visit again, and think its rather boring and that the board is makeing a badd attempt at humor. In other words, have something that gets close to irritating, and you won't have many people join. With this few members, image is everything.

Perhaps we should focus on the community this board has to offer, rather than its WoT-ish aspects?

Well, Victor, its like I said, right now, image IS everything. With this few members, we can't really focus on community.

Sure we can. We're a bunch of moronic WoT fans. We need to make people feel at home with us.

Victor, ought we really to focus on that? What about our positive aspects! Though, of course, we could just focus on humor like yours, lacking anything else.

Yes we do. And I'm going to keep up the banner, but we can always add more to it you know. I had like 4 prophicies up there before I put up the funny one.

Right. Tony, 2/3 of the people who have voted so far think it's wearing thin. It's wearing thin. Find something lasting, that makes them realize this is a RPing, serious board. Or is it?...
