The Good, the Bad, and the Dinosaurs The Mesozoic era consisted of three very different time periods all filled with dinosaurs and other fascinating creatures. The three periods in order of happening are the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. Each period had different dinosaurs and other animals. First off is the Triassic. The world is still one giant continent “Pangaea”. This is the age where dinosaurs are only starting out. Ancient reptiles such as the meat eating 6 ton postosuchus or plant eating placerias. The land goes through wet seasons and dry seasons which the old reptiles can’t survive as easily as the new dinosaurs like the Coelophysis which don’t lose as much moisture when they excreted. Also the first animals with mammal characteristics have evolved and aren’t exactly thriving but are surviving. Next up only a bunch of time ago is the Jurassic period. Pangaea is breaking up and dinosaurs rule. The biggest land animals ever walked the earth. These are the giant sauropods; the long Diplodocus and tall brachiosaurus. Predators like the allosaurus are not the main power of this age oddly because many of the herbivores have developed defenses like sauropods size and stegosaurus’ tale. Mammals

The Mesozoic era consisted of three very different time periods all filled with dinosaurs and other fascinating creatures. The three periods in order of happening are the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. Each period had different dinosaurs and other animals. First off is the Triassic. The world is still one giant continent “Pangaea”. This is the age where dinosaurs are only starting out. Ancient reptiles such as the meat eating, 6 ton, postosuchus or plant eating placerias. The land goes through wet seasons and dry seasons which the old reptiles can’t survive as easily as the new dinosaurs. During the wet season rivers run, vegetation flourishes, and everyone is happy. The dry season however often means migration for the placerias looking for food which is a problem for the meat eaters because they have more of a territory so they don’t follow. Coelophysis is an early dinosaur that has the adaptation so it doesn’t get affected by the little water in the dry season; it doesn’t lose water when it excretes. Also the first animals with mammal characteristics have evolved and aren’t exactly thriving but are surviving. Next up only a bunch of time ago is the Jurassic period. Pangaea is breaking up and dinosaurs rule. The climate all around the world is moist and warm. There are no ice caps. The forest covering the land had large fern plains which herbivores fed off of such as the biggest land animals ever walked the earth. These are the giant sauropods; the long Diplodocus and tall brachiosaurus. Predators like the allosaurus are oddly not the main power of this age because many of the herbivores have developed defenses like sauropods size and stegosaurus’ tale. Mammals are still just small and are mainly scavengers. The last period is the Cretaceous period the last time span with dinosaurs. The land is mostly vast lava plains with islands of lush forests. The volcanoes spew out poisonous gas that kills any animals with heads close to the ground that come near them. The dinosaurs haven’t changed in size much although the great sauropods had to shrink due to diminishing vegetation. The main predator is the T-Rex. Some reptiles that we know today have evolved such as the snake and crocodile. Mammals still only scavenge or steal dinosaur eggs. Flying reptiles which were once very common have diminished greatly in numbers along with the sea reptiles. Birds have evolved out of earlier dinosaurs. “Unfortunately” this is the last time of the dinosaurs. For unknown reasons they are wiped out. It could have been an asteroid/comet collision, a giant volcanic eruption, or aliens for all we know but most evidence points to the asteroid/comet collision.
