For those of you who don't know,
Civilization 3 is a Grand Strategy game centered on the military, economic, and diplomatic aspects of the interactions between, well, Civilizations. In essence, you move units around the map on "tiles", found cities, defend and attack these cities, build stuff in them, etc. It ranges from the dawn of human civilization to just after modern times.
EU2 is also a GSG, based around provinces, and focusing much more on the diplomatic and military aspects than Civ 3. Interactions between countries are much more based in reality, and the whole game is based in history, with real events happening at real times, from 1419-1820.
MTW is another GSG, which is focused much more on the Military aspects and the Roleplaying aspect. How do you roleplay in a GSG? It focuses much more around the royal family, vices and virtues of the generals, and stuff like that. It also has an awesome real time battle generator.

I have all three, as if anyone needed telling. And since the board ain't active tonight, I'm going to play one of them. Really, it is fascinating, the person who voted "No, sounds stupid", though I doubt, him being, most likely, Tony, that he can EVER be convinced...

It's Civ 3 for me. I want to get Total War, but I'm lazy and you actually have to get out from in front of a computer to get one.

Go, then, to civfanatics (link). It has an excellent community, with great add ons for civ, and so on. Edit: (it is also where I spend half my life, as my alter ego. You can guess who by my personal text.)

I've played Shogun Total War - doesn't that count for anything?
(And sadly enough, Civilization 3 seems to have some sort of dispute with my computer. *sighs* Thankfully, I didn't buy it - it was on loan from a guy I know.)

All those are good games, trem, but I'm going to have to say that the Starcraft's trump the rest of them. They are one of the best strategy fantasy games I have ever played.
