Ordinary men were asked to save the world... By walking into the jaws of hell...
"D-Day" Operation Overlord The Allied Invasion of Normandy June 6, 1944
The largest invasion in human history.
"Strengthened by their courage, heartened by their valor and borne by their memory, let us continue to stand for the ideals for which they lived and died."

I think its a great thing to pay tribute to the allied soldiers that started freeing us on that faithfull day. More then 150.000 man jumped out off an airplane or landed on the beaches that day. 3000 didn't survive the first day. I honour the men that fought for the liberation of my and other countrys.
' ...and when he gets to Heaven to Saint Peter he will tell: "one more soldier reporting sir, I've served my time in Hell".
(quote from "Medal of Honour")

"We're here to mark that day in history when the Allied armies joined in battle to reclaim this continent to liberty. For four long years, much of Europe had been under a terrible shadow. Free nations had fallen, Jews cried out in the camps, millions cried out for liberation. Europe was enslaved, and the world prayed for its rescue. Here in Normandy the rescue began. Here the Allies stood and fought against tyranny in a giant undertaking unparalleled in human history." - Reagan, "D-Day" Memorial Speech If you have never read that speech, I recommend you do sometime. It's very good. I'll insert the link later, as I can't seem to find that page... Americans, British, Canadians, and others all came together on that day to begin the liberation of Europe. Utah -- Omaha -- Gold -- Juno -- Sword That's a pretty scary thing to be doing, yet they did it. I believe them all to be heroes, deserving of honor. But we can not forget the others who fought and died. The Russians lost twenty million in all of WWII. And the millions of people who fell under the tyranny of Nazi Germany and her allies. The innocents who suffered from the raging storm of war. And we must also remember those who died from the Axis Powers of Germany, Italy, and Japan. While they were the enemy, they are still people who still died. I honor the memory of those who served and those who died in that, the Second World War. Estimated World War II Casualties
