William opened his eyes and stared at the inside of his stasis box. Is it time? William asked himself, but then wondered, Time for what? William tried to remember what happened before the stasis box, but couldn't. His hands felt around the box for the opening inside the box and after a few moments the door hissed and then swung open revealing a dusty attic full junk. William stepped out of the box and almost fell. His legs wern't that strong from being in the box for so long. He stretched his legs a little and tried again. A little wobbly, but it'll do William thought to himself. He headed for the doorway and turned the handle and pushed, but the door wouldn't budge. He tried again with more force but to still no avail. Finally he just took a few steps back and charged at the door and the door swung open just as soon as he got there. The poor old man didn't know what hit him as he and William tumbled down the stairs and finally landing at the feet of the man's wife.
William looked up and saw a stern faced woman staring down at him with a glare that would send most men scrambling for their lives. William picked himself up and then helped the old man up who seemed to be unhurt. William then faced the old woman and was going to apologize, but she started before he could utter a word. "Young man, what were you doing up in our attic and why did you attack my husband?" she asked sternly. "Ma'am, I apologize for knocking your husband down. I was trying to get the door open so I could get out. See, I woke up in a stasis box a-" "A what?" she asked as she interupted William. "A stasis box," William said, "You mean you don't know what a stasis box is?!" The old woman shook her head and looked to her husband and he shook his head too.
William rushed to the window and what he saw shook him to the core. Outside was a mud street with people walking everywhich way with carts and sedan chairs cutting a path in the people. The buildings looked shabby and not too great. William turned back to the old couple and asked in a rushed, panicked voice, "Where are we? What year is it? Has the Light forces conqured the Shadow? What happened to Lews Therin?" The old man looked to the old woman and then back to William. Then he said in a tired raspy voice, "We're in Tear, son. And the year is N.E. 999. I don't know anything about these Light forces. And Lews Therin Broke the world when he went crazy." William flopped in a chair, but he didn't remember moving towards.
