I was just wondering (not wandering Tony, WONDERING) if one of you guys have ever read the Illias and/or the Odyssee. If you never heard about them, the first one is a report off the last weeks off the Trojan war. The last one is the story of Odysseus who after 10 years finally lands on Ithaka only to find his wife coarted by other noble men.

Iliad and the Odyssey. Yep yep, read 'em both. they are good stuff. I'm not sure which one I like better, though. How about you? Which one did you think to be superior?
Granted, they are sort of just a continuation of the same story...

I liked the Illias better( I use the Dutch names for the books).
your right about them being a continuation off the same story, but Homerus' writing style is a bit different in the 2 parts( Note: scientist doubt that Homerus even wrote those stories, he sure was a famous artist, but it isn't likely that he's done all the things that peope say he has done)

Yes, the name thing is fine. I know what you are talking about.
And again, I think you are right. The style is a little different in the Iliad. It's a very good book.

I read a heavily butchered version of "The Odyssey" for English class. I might have liked it if it weren't in a classroom environment... and if it hadn't been so edited.

I read the same one as Victor. I must say it was quite disappointing. Then again, it seemed to be edited for a first grade level. I will eventually read a pure version of the Illiad and the Oddesy. And perhaps I'll have learned Classical Greek by then so I can read the really pure version....
