Name: Dagon Keis Age: 19 Gender: Male Height: 5 1/2 feet Eyes: Brown Hair: Light brown Weight: 161 pounds
Description: Dagon Keis is a quiet man, and has little experience with the world outside his hometown. Even so, he gets along well with most of the people he encounters, and is able to think his way out of dangerous situations. He is slowly learning to be cautious and untrusting of all people save those he knows well. Because he rarely stays in one place for very long, his hair is often uncombed and dirty. His clothing is dirty as well, although Dagon makes an effort to keep it clean. He walks with a noticeable limp due to deformed bones and twisted muscles in his right leg, a condition which he was born with. Because of this, travelling long distances can become difficult for Dagon and he finds it almost impossible to overcome anybody at close combat. His arms are rather strong, however, and the struggles of living with his deformed leg have given him a sense of patience which is a great asset to him when it comes to archery.
Strengths: Dagon has significant upper body strength and is superb at archery. He is patient, strong-minded, and somewhat well-read.
Weaknesses: Dagon has almost no experience with the world beyond his home village, and must rely on what he's read in books and heard from others to survive in the outside world. His deformed leg makes him unable to run and difficult for him to travel great distances, as well as deters his ability to take part in close-ranged combat. Putting too much pressure on his right leg by walking for several days at a time can cause bouts of intense pain and muscle cramping in the offending limb.

Background:
Born to Durin and Wilse Keis, Dagon grew up in the village Hunter's Wood, a small Andoran village ten days southeast of Camelyn. Life in a secluded village is hard work, especially when one is expected to work daily when they become old enough. However, Dagon's life was further complicated by the fact that he was born with a deformed right leg. The defect made it difficult for the young Dagon to walk -- his father went so far as to punish him unless he made an effort to walk correctly. His methods seemed to work, as Dagon was soon able to move around on his lame leg, although he limped noticeably and moved more slowly than other toddlers his age. At the age of five, Dagon began to become painfully aware of the disadvantages his deformity caused him. His brother Kaelim, who was two years older than him, taunted him about it whenever he found the chance, and Dagon's lack of mobility made him unable to succeed in the displays of sibling rivalry common to children of that age. As Dagon grew older, he noticed that the other kids in the village acted similarly to his brother. They pointedly excluded him from their activities, and openly taunted him. The adults of the village were sympathetic, but could do nothing to prevent the children from thinking of him as a freak.
The tormenting of his peers coupled with the demands placed on young men in Hunter's Wood drove Dagon to seek out help. The village Wisdom, an old woman named Reglain, attempted to help Dagon but could not correct his defect. Reglain was a hard woman however, and drove Dagon to find a way around his deformity. Dagon took her words to heart, but found that he could not live up to the expectations his parents placed on him or win the acceptance of the other children in the village.
Everything that tormented Dagon came to a head when he was twelve years old. After a long day of work with his father, who seemed to be always frustrated by Dagon's slow movement, Kaelim and one of his friends invited Dagon on a journey to Damner's Hill, which lay about a half mile south of Hunter's Wood. Dagon went with them, and they seemed strangely tolerant of his slowness. Dagon had trouble climbing the hill, but Kaelim and his friends helped him reach the peak.
Then they played their prank. The three boys rushed down the hill, leaving Dagon behind. Instead of panicking, Dagon attempted to find his way down the hill. He was only able to make his way down about two thirds of the hill before darkness fell, however, and was unable to safely navigate the rest of the way down. He spent a sleepless night on Damner's Hill, only to be found in the morning by a small search party led by his father.
Humiliated by this incident, Dagon eventually decided to stop attempting to gain the acceptance of the rest of the village. Instead, he would try to excel at what he could. Turning to hunting as a way to earn his keep, Dagon eventually became one of the best young hunters in the village. By the age of fifteen, he had gained enough patience and skill to outdo any of his peers. He had also turned to reading books in his spare time, an activity which he thoroughly enjoyed.
When Dagon became eighteen years old, he began to work as a full time hunter. He was skilled with a bow and arrow, rarely missing a shot, and also possessed some ability with a sling. However, he found his leg to once again cause him problems. Walking long distances to hunt was still a pain, and Dagon found that after several days of walking into the woods around the village to hunt, his leg would begin to hurt. He had felt the pain before, but now that he was leaving almost every day to hunt, it was more than a minor nuisance. Dagon soon found that he had to take time off from hunting to let the pain subside, and he once again found that his defective leg denied him a happy life.
A year later, Dagon decided to leave Hunter's Wood. His mother and father expressed concern about his ability to travel with his leg, but Dagon persisted. There was nothing left for him to do at Hunter's Wood, and Dagon had developed a secret hope that somebody might be able to heal his leg. He had read about Aes Sedai in one of the books he had come across, and although he didn't now exactly how their healing worked he was willing to let them Heal him. Setting out with a bow, a quiver of arrows, some rations, a hunting knife, and the small amount of money he had, Dagon made his way to Camelyn.
The journey took him sixteen long days. Dagon quickly learned that travelling life was far rougher than what he had experienced in Hunter's Wood. In the space between when he had left his home and encountered the first of two villages he passed through, he was attacked by a pair of wolves. Only his archery saved him. When he reached the first village, he spent the night at an inn, only to find his money gone the following morning. Despite all this, he pressed on, knowing that unless the Aes Sedai managed to heal his leg he would be forced to live as a cripple for the rest of his life.
Between the first village and second village, Dagon's leg began to ache, but he stubbornly pressed on. He would not stop in the middle of the wilderness to rest his leg. His sleep was restless, and walking was painful, but Dagon refused to give in.
Although he was in immense pain upon reaching the second village, Dagon managed to find work with a local farmer. The farmer paid him a small amount of money and allowed Dagon to sleep in his home. After bidding the man farewell, Dagon set out again toward Camelyn. His leg throbbed with every limping step he took, and the pain seemed to be growing worse. Despite this, Dagon pressed on. It was the only way he would ever be able to reach Camelyn -- and beyond that, Tar Valon.
