Name: Drake Galfin
Age: 18 (*18 1/3)
Gender: Male
Height: 5'9
Eyes: Green
Hair: brown
Weight: 150 (*pounds)
Description (physical/mental): Drake has short cropped borwn hair, lightly muscled, wouldn't stand out in a crowd of people. His lack of social interaction seems to throw people, although he seems to aviod confortation, he doesn't fear it, but he doesn't love it either. He looks like the person that would rather be outside, practice-ing with a sword & sheild, than studying, or reading. But infact those have more apeal to him, than the ruthless chaos that is warfare. Although part of him longs for the thrills of adventure, it's nothing new. Over time he has learned to satisfy those longings by slipping away from the inn his father owns, and disapearing for the night into the hills surrounding his town. (*sorry that is alittle short, but for now I'm tired it's like 8:30 in the morning and I have caught alittle cold lol)
Strengths(/abilitys): Growing up in a inn, he has learned of many stories, some of battles, some of mystical powers. And yet others are just common folk beliefs, those stories have lead him to buy many books from wandering travellers, and other people alike. Although he dis-belives in trollocs and channeling, it is possible in his mind for such things to exist. Archery has always beena talent for him, ever since he was young he has praticed on a small target, and every year he moves it back about 30 paces, at one point he couldn't hit it, but now he is becoming a better archer. Saddly that pratice was stopped due to the fact that recently the inn had become more busy.
Weaknesses(/fears): His worst fear is something not even he knows, it's not his death, for that doesn't matter to him. He belives it's the death of others, either by his action or in-action. His weakness is his ever curious mind, it has forced him to learn lessions the hard way, even if it has cost him scars or even broken bones to find out.
Background: Drake grew up above his fathers inn, atleast he spent most of his time there, his father was slightly wealthy, that allowed his sisters and mother to travel, but saddly he was needed there at the inn. His father tried hard to teach drake as a child to complete simple tasks, but if he left him alone he would be found watching some bug, or playing in one of the inns rooms. That has often come back to him, infact even to this day he can get very easly distracted. His allowance isn't enough to travel on, but he has been saving it, but as his father warns him, to leave this villiage with out knowing the outside world would mean either discrace or death. So to learn these things he has realied on books, and scrolls to teach him things. The best part about living in such a enclosed area his father tells him, that there is no wars, no killing. That would change soon a small band of mean came to the village, and stole a girl from her bed, and killed her father. They took her off, some say it was to work in some mines, other have more dark thoughts. Soon all thoughts wer layed to rest wen they found her body hanging from a tree on the out-skirts of town. With it was a note, reading "This is a warning, those who defy us, will taste the sword, we now control all trafic in and out of this town, anyone caugh trying to leave will be killed. Anyone who rebels against us, will die. The simple truth is, we own you now. If you comply to our wims you will be rewarded." And thus the town was now being shut out from the world, the only politcal holding they had now was as a bandit town.
There black smith was forced to create and engrave heavy armours for them, his steel supply was monitored so he couldn't create anything else. He created everything from axes, to broad swords. It seemed that they were arming themselves for a war. Thus drake though his fathers saying wasn't completely true. They were about to find out the harshness of war, and the taste of battle. One day, a gathering was called by the head of the bandits, it was to recruite men for there new army, any boy older than the age of 17 would now start to train in there army. Weither they had to take them by force, or not. Alot of the boys were rounded up by the theives and bandits. Some joined freely fearing the worst for the parents if they did not. As for drake, he was one of the few who joined freely, and thus it would begin. They had them working almost day and night, only allowing a few hours of sleep, unless a skirmish was the next day, then they had them all in bed before the sun set. They had them build walls, although small, they would be enough to slow a charge of men, they also had them build a barracks. But they were to remain sleeping were they were, in either there houses or the stabels were they could be watched. The bandits moved into the barracks, and started to fill it's celler/basment with food, water and weapons. Swords and axes, bows and barrels of arrows, the people who were know as skill carvers worked on the arrows, the local carpenter was also forced to make weapons of war, bows, pike handles, spear handles, etc.
Life in there make-shift army wasn't as bad as it could have been, you only were struck if you talked or did something wrong, the thing they couldn't find out was, who were they building this for. The bandits? or some other force? The reason they wondered about it was becaus a black wagon would come into town every week, drop off some steel, coal, and other good to the blacksmith, then a person in a black cloak would get out of the carrage and walk into the barracks, no one knew who he was. Or even if it was a he, but to the conscripts, that didn't matter, there familys were safe, and there were only alittle sore. Then one day, a welthy merchant came to town, and was told what had happened, he nodded greedly, and aproached the barrracks. He came out, and a horn was sounded twice, that ment to gather all members of the rag-tag army. They lined up, the mechant seemed to be looking for some one, he pointed to two of the boys and whispered to one the guards. The grabbed the boys and took them inside, next thing drake knew, he was being pointed at, a guard shoved him inside also. The inside looked like he had imaged. Very warm, alittle to warm, but that was because of the raging fire. There were three men inside, two holding spears across a door, blocking it from being opened, and the third seeme to be a high ranking officer of some sort. The merchant walked in, "do you know who I am?" he asked, "no sir" all three boys replyed, "well you will come to know me as herid, I am a merchant, as you may have noticed, but I come here seaking help. I own a large galleon, and I need some one to guard it, you will have to sufice, you will be helping the real warriors I have hired at whitebridge. You can choice to go with me, or stay here and rot.", "I'll go" said one of them "I guess it's better than here" said the other, "fine, I will go." said drake.
